Labor market in the media

Findings of the final report of the "Gap Skills Analysis Study" were presented today in the premises of the Faculty of History and Philology in Tirana.

This report is a result of the cooperation of the Journalism and Communication Department in the University of Tirana with USAID Mission in Albania and the Institute for Development, Research and Alternatives. The study was financed by British Embassy in Tirana and it aims to analyze the gap between the teaching curricula and the skills of journalists who have completed their studies at JCDUT.

The Institute for Development, Research and Alternatives was part of this research in its first phase, the design of the survey, the methodology and data collection and processing. The data was later analyzed by the authors of the study, Dr. Mark Marku Prof. Dr. Artan Fuga and Ervin Goci. Presentation of the most important findings of the report was carried out by the authors themselves.

The report offers findings on the professional training of journalists in the context of the labor market in Albania, more specifically on the socio-demographic features of journalists, the consistency between the degree taken from the university curriculum and the real market needs, the speed of student transition from university to labor market, media market flexibility, market opportunities, and socio-professional status of journalists.
