Description:

IDRA in cooperation with Oxford University, funded by World Bank, has implemented a major research project on the Public School System in Albania. The research focused on governance and accountability and employed traditional survey methods (quantitative survey) as well as controlled field experiments (qualitative research) to measure the attitudes of stakeholders (parents of students, teachers, school principals, members of school boards and other community members) toward governance in the education sector and their preferences for accountability and transparency. The research provided a baseline to measure the impact of governance improvement measures and school autonomy reforms planned by the Ministry of Education and Science in Albania. The research involved:

  • More than 4000 interviews with school stakeholders
  • About 200 Field Experiments (focus groups) in 200 schools around Albania
